How do you fix Window’s “Network path was not found” error?
Microsoft Windows operating systems are allowed to share the
same network and have access to the files and data on each other’s computer
without the need of a cable. Sometimes, the user gets a message “Error code:
0x80070035. The network path was not found”. There may be several causes for
this error but mainly it is caused due to antivirus or Firewall blocking the
resources. To resolve the error of network path not found or network path not
found Windows XP, you can try following fixes:
1.
Temporarily Disable antivirus and
Firewall
Disable your antivirus by right-clicking on
the Antivirus Program icon. Also select the time frame for which you want it to
be disabled. Now check if the error is resolved or not. Follow the steps below:
·
Press Windows key +I and go to control panel.
·
Go to system and security and click on Windows
Firewall.
·
Click on Turn windows Firewall on or off.
·
Select turn off Windows Firewall and restart
your PC.
2.
Delete hidden network adapters
Use the following steps:
·
Press Windows key +R and type devmgmt.msc .
Enter to open Device Manager.
·
Go to Network Adapters and click view. Then go
to Show hidden devices.
·
Now right click on each of the hidden devices
and select “Uninstall device”.
·
Repeat it for all the hidden devices listed
under Network Adapters.
·
Now reboot your PC to save changes.
3.
Turn on Network discovery
To turn on the network discovery follow
these steps:
·
Press Windows Key + X then select Control Panel.
·
Click on Network and Internet now and click
“View network status and tasks”.
·
Now you will be redirected to network and
Sharing Centre. Go to “change advanced sharing settings”.
·
Check “Turn on network discovery” and save.
4.
Enable NetBIOS over TCP/IP
·
Press Windows Key +R and type “ncpa.cpl”.
·
Right click on your Wi-Fi or ethernet and select
properties.
·
Now go to
Internet protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) and click properties.
·
In the next window click Advanced and switch to
WINS tab under advanced TCP/IP settings.
·
Now check “Enable NetBIOS over TCP/IP” under
NetBIOS and click OK.
·
Reboot your system to save the changes.
5.
Enter all Pc’s Username and password over
the network manually.
·
Press Windows Key+X and go to control panel.
·
Type credential in the control panel search.
·
Click on Credential manager.
·
Select windows credentials and tap “Add a
windows credential”.
·
Type the username and password for each machine
connected to the network.
·
Do the same for PC’s connected to PC.
6.
Check if your drive is shared or not.
·
Right click on the drive to be shared.
·
Select properties.
·
Go to sharing tab. If it is saying not shared
click on “Advanced sharing button”.
·
Check the mark “share this folder”.
·
Now click apply then OK.
7.
Change Network Security settings
·
Press Windows Key +R. Type “secpol.msc”.
·
Click Enter.
·
Now go to Local policies, security options, network
security: LAN manager authentication level respectively.
·
Now double click on “Network security: LAN
Manager authentication level”.
·
Choose “Send LM & NTLM -use NTLM v2 session
security if negotiated”.
·
Now click apply and OK.
8.
Reset TCP/IP
·
Right click on windows button. select “Command
prompt (Admin)”.
·
Type these commands and press enter after each
one : ipconfig/release, ipconfig/flushdns, ipconfig/renew.
·
Now again open Admin command prompt and type
these commands and hit enter after each: (1). ipconfig/flushdns (2). nbtstat-r (3). netsh int ip reset (4). netsh winsock reset.
·
Reboot and the changes will be applied.
Solve network path not found in Windows XP
In XP SP3, if you get the error message “Network path not
found”, try these fixes:
1.
Make sure the service “Computer Browser” is
running on your domain Controller, and only on your DC.
2.
Enable NetBIOS over TCP/IP.
3.
Stop Routing and remote Access service.
If none of the above fixes work for you, take the help of
